Rolex Early Oyster Perpetual Date ref 6530 Roulette circa 1955

An early, rare, and fine condition Rolex Oyster Perpetual date ref 6530 circa 1955. Featuring sa 34mm diameter case with lovely all original warmly patina’d tropical dial with shark’s teeth markers, tapered sword hands, raised ROLEX printing, and with original alternating red and black date wheel. Powered by caliber 10130 self winding movement with butterfly rotor and with original + logo winding crown.

This is an amazing find of an all original exceptionally well preserved example of a model not widely known and rarely found with such a stunning dial. A google search will find examples of this 70+ year old model modestly priced and predominantly with refinished or unremarkable dials.

The current example is further noteworthy in that it lacks the name sake word “DATE” on the dial. The model is an Oyster Perpetual Date, yet the dial reads Oyster Perpetual. As with the earliest Datejusts introduced in the late 1940’s, which lacked the word Datejust on the dial, this charateristic is another fine detail that adds to the uniqueness of this rare example.

We have fitted this model with a non cyclops crystal to better show off the lovely dial and red date wheel without any intrusive cyclops magnifying the date. The 1030 butterfly movement has been recently serviced and shows good amplitude and time keeping.

We sourced this model as shown with the excellent condition oval link USA J & B (Jacoby & Bender) manufactured Jubilee bracelet with large ROLEX logo. The bracelet is undated and reads Stainless Steel 14K trim U.S.A., though there is no 14K trim on the bracelet.
