TikTok May Be More Than the Sound of the Escapement!

We are often contacted by social media marketers and influencers promising us thousands of Instagram followers—for a fee. We’ve always said no.

Our products, and the way we do business, are a little “olde school”: homegrown, personal, non-corporate, and built on integrity. As our web manager likes to say, “We are a business with a soul!”

Well, we recently ventured into uncharted territory when we heard from prolific TikTok and Instagram creator @ChristianVierling, who makes playful—and frankly ridiculous—relationship videos with his adorable girlfriend, @SaskiaKatarinaHerd. Christian was looking for a cool watch and pitched us on a collaboration. With 2.7 million TikTok followers and 586K Instagram followers, we figured this might be a fun, low-risk way to reach a new audience.

The photogenic young couple came by the shop on a scouting mission and, like so many of you, had a great first visit. We decided to sign on for the fun of it.

Well, the results are in, and we think the adventure was a great success! The video they created was not exactly the “Welcome to WBAW” video we had imagined, but it is certainly rocking the charts. At this writing, their 3½-minute TikTok video has received nearly 90,000 views and 200 comments. A shorter version will soon be posted to Instagram.

We hope you get a kick out of all this nonsense. You may need to watch it a second—or third—time to fully appreciate it. And if you have another moment, read some of the comments. Ken has gotten some terrific reviews and may have found a new career doing cameos in future episodes.

And finally: no, Christian is not Ken’s son, Kym is not his wife, and Ken definitely did not follow the script. But yes, Christian did get himself a 116234!
