A very cool looking Rolex Datejust ref# 16030 with a tropical tapestry dial circa 1980. Featuring a 36mm diameter case with engine turned bezel, acrylic crystal and with unusual original tapestry dial that has naturally aged to a warm champagne or honey color.  If you are a long time follower of our listings, you know that we are big fans of aged tropical dials as they render a unique vintage character to the watch, and subject to the nuances of each dial, render a “one of a kind” quality that we all so appreciate.

The current example features the infrequently seen tapestry (AKA pinstripe, or tuxedo) dial, but one that turned from  silver satin to a warm and uniform honey color. The vertical pin stripe pattern also creates the illusion of alternating light and dark similar to viewing light passing through a window through partially closed blinds. The tritium lume hands and dial plots are all intact and are a light ivory color which contrasts subtly against the darker background.
