Wanna Buy A Watch? – Vintage Watches.

Southwest Silver Collection exclusively from WBAW?
Vintage Native American sterling silver watch tips set with natural turquoise and coral, paired with vintage Rolex Air-King and Oyster Perpetual watches and finished with bespoke Horween cordovan leather straps.
These handcrafted silver pieces were created by Navajo artisans as souvenirs for travelers exploring Arizona and New Mexico aboard the Santa Fe Railroad in the early 20th century, and later along the legendary Route 66. Each set features distinctive motifs that celebrate Native American artistry and tradition.
Originally fitted to modest wristwatches with expandable metal bracelets, these remarkable watch tips have been thoughtfully reimagined. We have sourced some of the finest surviving examples and paired them with vintage Rolex watches from the 1960s and 1970s. Completed with our custom Horween cordovan leather straps and rustic vintage-style buckles, they create a distinctive contemporary look that honors Indigenous craftsmanship, the romance of America’s golden age of travel, and the timeless appeal of fine vintage Swiss horology.

The pairing of fine mid-century Swiss horology with historic American Indian metalwork represents a highly collectible genre of estate jewelry. To help collectors navigate this unique intersection of Native American artistry and mechanical watchmaking, we have compiled the key historical and technical details of these rare pieces.
Watch tips are decorative, hand-wrought sterling silver caps designed to frame a watch head on either side of the wrist. Popularized in the early-to-mid 20th century, these pieces were individually crafted by master silversmiths—primarily Navajo (Diné) and Zuni artisans. These watch cuffs often feature traditional hand-stamping, sandcasting, and high-grade natural gemstones like Kingman, Morenci, or Bisbee turquoise, frequently accompanied by organic Mediterranean red coral.
Historically, watch tips were fitted to modest, mass-produced vintage timepieces using spring bars and metal expansion bands. To elevate these historic works of art into the luxury tier, we independently source and fully service authenticated, unmodified vintage Swiss watches. While we frequently pair these silver tips with iconic mid-century models like the Rolex Air-King (Ref. 5500) or Oyster Perpetual, we also select exceptional vintage manual-wind and automatic watch heads from other historic makers like Omega and Tudor.
Because these vintage watch heads feature standard factory lug widths, our watchmakers are able to securely mount the independent vintage silver tips and complete the look with custom-tailored, high-grade Horween cordovan leather straps and rustic, vintage-style buckles.
Unlike standard steel watches on modern bracelets, these pieces require specialized care due to their organic materials:
Water Resistance: While the vintage watch cases were originally built for water resistance, natural turquoise and historic sterling silver should never be submerged in water or exposed to harsh cleaning chemicals.
Cleaning the Silver: Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth exclusively on the silver elements to maintain their natural, aged patina. Avoid liquid jewelry dips, which can permanently damage or discolor natural turquoise and coral.
