Longines Modernist Design Dress Model circa 1950’s

A striking mid century design man’s Longines manual wind dress model circa late 1950’s or early 1960’s. Featuring a rectangular case and an unusual dial configuration with a gloss black center black square design and a perimeter silvered background bearing the raised silver hour indexes. The dial is signed in the lower right with an artistic script lettering, which appears as a design element, but which reads “Gold Medal” a reference we assume to Longines long history of gold medal awards at European horological competitions. The hands are the distinctive “skyscraper” design which further earmarks the modernist era of this model.

The watch is fitted with its original stretch bracelet whose pattern mimics the subtle background texture of the dial perimeter. The bracelet completes the “hipster” modernist design of this period piece.
