Vintage Rolex Oyster Everest Observatory ref# 4647 circa 1940’s

SOLD

Scarce model vintage Rolex Oyster Everest Observatory model ref 4647 circa 1940’s. Featuring a 30 x 35mm thick cushion shaped Oyster case with side flat bezel with sloped sides, heavy faceted lugs, and screw down case back and period screw down crown. Excellent condition case with original matte silver dial with patina’d luminous 12/3/6/9 indexes and stylized hands specific to the Everest model.  Powered by 17 jewel manual wind caliber 10 1/2 hunter movement with sweep seconds.

This is a scarce and popular 1940’s model, which along with the Oyster Army model was produced in the patriotic spirit of the World War II era. No history of actual military use, this model nonetheless has always been a popular collector’s model with its bold, chunky, and substantial case design and distinctive model name. Typically seen with considerable wear and case back corrosion, the current example witnesses a remarkably pristine and sharp condition case. Please see photos.

Offered on your choice of sporty or exotic leather strap. Fully serviced and detailed and offered with our 1 year warrantee of accurate time keeping and operation. Your purchase includes our fine Italian glazed leather pouch, great for travel and storage. A $45 value.

NOTE: the crystal in the photo hides some of the edge of the dial. The crystal has now been replaced with one that better shows the edges of the dial. New photos to appear shortly.
