An especially fine condition example vintage Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona ref 6263 circa 1975. Featuring an original pristine condition original tritium lume “Sigma” dial with black  chronograph registers and with Greek symbols SIGMA designating the use of gold dial indexes on this very brief production model. With fine condition black lacquer outer tachometer scale that distinguishes this popular reference # from the ref # 6265 with its steel tachometer bezel.

Powered by Rolex caliber 727 manual wind movement with registers for 30 minutes, 12 hours, and constant seconds. Featuring a fine condition original 200 mph bakelite bezel and original, not service replacement screw down chronograph pushers. With an especially beefy lug and corrosion free case with clear and distinct case reference and serial #s. With clean case back, free of any personalized engraving and with correct and fine condition Rolex heavy Oyster 78350 bracelet with foldlng deployant clasp and with correct #571 end pieces.

Background: The reference 6263 model is second only to the Paul Newman dial Daytona in terms of desirability among vintage Rolex Daytona models. The 6263 with black bakelite bezel is preferred in either the black dial or silver dial versions. The screw down pushers, and wider black lacquer bezel add to the size and give the watch a larger presence on the wrist. Sigma refers to the Greek letter on either side of the T SWISS T at the bottom of the dial and indicate that the dial markers are precious metal, and not just plated. The Sigma dial variation of the 6263 Daytona is considerably rarer than the later examples with DAYTONA printed in red over the 6 o’clock register and is often preferred by European collectors of vintage Rolex models due to its rarity and remarkable sharpness of printing of these dials.
