Tudor Advisor Alarm ref #10050 Rare Black Dial circa 1983

Not all vintage Tudor Advisor’s are created equal. We have owned a number of fine examples vintage Tudor Advisor alarm models from the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s. But we have never owned one as special as we think this one is. This is a reference 10500 produced circa 1970’s and 1980’s which features a 34 x 41mm case, twin crowns, one for winding and one for alarm setting, a screw back case ring, but most dramatically with a stunning black silver gilt original dial.

The silver dial version of this model is the far more familiar version, and we have included an example as reference in our photos attached. This silver dial version  is currently available in our stock.

This rare black dial example is in all original condition, a never polished case, and a stunning original black dial with unretouched luminous hands, luminous indexes, or red alarm setting hand.

The case serial # of this example is 980,xxx which according to Tudor production dating charts dates this example to 1983. However, the silver gilt printing we see here, is more associated with 1960’s and 1970’s era Rolex models, so we wonder if this example is not in fact earlier. We note some literature that dates some examples of this model to as early as 1969. In either case, the watch with this black gilt dial makes a terrific impression, and the black background and soft silver printing really accentuate the modernist features which include the raised square indexes, rectangular matchstick style hands, bold Tudor shield logo, and prominent distinct font on the dial “Tudor Advisor” “Shock-resisting.”

The Advisor is powered by 17 jewel manual wind caliber 3475 that has been recently serviced and in excellent operating condition and is offered with our usual 1 year warrantee of accurate time keeping and operation. The case and original unsigned crowns shows minor nicks and dings associated with use, and on close examination, the dial surface shows light bubbling associated with exposure to moisture. However, as stated, the case is entirely original and unpolished, and none of these characteristics diminish from the desirability of this scarce model. While at 34 x 41mm not large in stature, this model is large in its impact, scarcity, and beauty, as this documentation attests. We don’t expect it to last long!
