A great looking early vintage Rolex SS Bubbleback circa 1937 with original patina’d dial and MAPPIN retailer stamped on caseback. Featuring a 32mm diameter Oyster case with screw down case back and early Oyster patent screw down crown. The original matte silver dial has patina’d to a warm parchment color and features gold mirror indexes and gilt baton hands. Powered by calibre N/A self winding movement with sweep seconds.

This early case design features the deep flat back style, rather than the later more rounded back. The case and case back are in especially good condition, previously polished, but not corroded or with damaged case back threads. A very distinctive characteristic of this model is the caseback stamping MAPPIN, indicating that this watch was originally sold by Mappin & Webb, renowned jewelers in London since the eighteenth century. The caseback also bears the oversized Rolex logo crown, another characteristic of the early English market bubbleback watches long before Rolexes were distributed in the U.S. post WW II.
