Rolex Oyster Turtle Lipton ref 3478 serial # 176,xxx circa 1942. 31 mm boy’s size model retailed by Zell Brothers of Portland, Oregon. Featuring original patina’d antique white dial with arabic luminous figures, and outer mirror track, and patina’d luminous blued steel pencil style hands. Powered by 15 jewel manual wind movement with subsidiary seconds. Offered on your choice of sporty, or dressy leather or exotic skin strap.
Note: Rolex watches were not distributed into the U.S. until after WWII. Prior to this time, Zell Brothers retail jewelry store of Portland, Oregon, imported Oyster watches otherwise only found in Canada. Zell Brothers coined interesting names for these models, such as Turtle Timer. This is the first Turtle Lipton we have encountered. Serviced and guaranteed genuine and offered with a 1 year warrantee of accurate timkeeping and operation.
