An attractive and scarce 36mm model Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref 1018 circa 1979. With smooth bezel and acrylic crystal and fitted with a gloss black service dial and tritium lume hands. Powered by chronometer rated calibre 1560 self winding movement with sweep seconds. Recently fully serviced, pressure tested and guaranteed, and offered on a later (circa 1989 date code N) D link Jubilee bracelet. The bracelet is especially tight and will fit a 7 1/2″ wrist. This watch includes a Rolex service card dated January of 2018 suggesting the luminova dial may have been installed during service at that time.

While this model may resemble a 1002 Oyster Perpetual, or a 5500 Air-King, it is actually a first cousin to the 1016 Explorer 1, as it shares the same 36mm diameter case, considerably larger than the 1002 or 5500. In fact, the 1016 dial fits perfectly in this case and over the years we have seen examples of 1018’s with Explorer 1 dials and hands installed that were misrepresented as Explorer 1’s.
