A fantastic Rolex GMT Master, ref, 1675 in 18K yellow gold, in unbelievable condition, and accompanied by its original box and papers. This is the much rarer gold variant of the famous GMT Master usually seen in steel. Featuring a 40mm gold case, found totally unpolished with fat beveled lugs and sharp edges. While we may get lost in the features to come, the truly unbelievable condition of this case can not be overlooked, or overstated.
The black dial is perfect and features slightly patinated tritium hour markers with gilt hands. Making this watch all the more interesting is it being worn not on the usually seen Oyster bracelet, or even Jubilee, but on the extremely rare President bracelet almost exclusively reserved for the famous Day-Date. A few of these rare GMT combinations have been found over the years, with the fairly strong trend of them originating in Mexico. This particular piece fits that trend perfectly.
Purchased by the original owner in the late ’70’s in Mexico, and owned for over 30 years, the watch made its way into the hands of a well known dealer before moving to a well known and incredibly discerning collector. That collector owned the piece for two years, in that time racking up a grand total of ONE wear. As stated the watch is still paired with its original box and open punch papers, three separate Rolex booklets, and even a serial number matching green leather papers folder. We are proud to own and offer for sale such a fantastic GMT, and a unique piece of Rolex sport watch history.
