Rolex Daytona ref 6265 “Big Red” circa 1975

An early example vintage Rolex stainless steel Daytona “BIg Red” ref 6265 serial # 3.9 million circa 1975. Featuring a 36mm diameter Oyster case with screw down chronograph pushers, original 50-200 mph tachometer bezel, and original matte black “Big Red” Daytona dial with contrasting white registers and with screw down trip lock crown. Powered by calibre 727 manual wind movement with registers for minutes, hours, and constant seconds. With trip lock Rolex screw down crown. With Rolex stainless steel heavy Oyster 78350 bracelet with 557 end pieces in excellent condition.

This is a good condition example of this classic model that shows normal aging for a 50+ year old model. We offer these very specific details about condition, while affirming that the watch shows well on the wrist and to the naked eye.

The black dial surface is in fine condition with no scratches or spotting. The black dial surface is entirely intact with all printing sharp and the RED DAYTONA printing bold and deep red in color. There is a minute spot at the very bottom of the dial near 6 0′ clock. There is some loss to the puffy lume plots, often seen on this model, and the lume plots have aged to a darker shade. The white sub registers show very light surface wear but no scratches, gouges or dings. The case and the dial appear to have been previously polished, and the bezel shows some loss of black paint to the tachometer scale. The bracelet is a later 19mm heavy Oyster bracelet with 557 end pieces. The case serial #s and reference #s are all clear and sharp and the case is free of any corrosion. We serviced this watch for our client in 2014 and the watch still shows fine timing performance with all chronograph functions operating properly.

Guaranteed genuine, but as a consigned watch, last serviced by us in 2014 for our client, we are not offering our typical one year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation. A pleasing and we think fairly priced example of this iconic vintage Rolex Daytona model.
