Scarce and very desirable Rolex SS Daytona ref 6263 serial# 6.2 million circa 1979 with original box and purchase receipt from Tourneau, dated 1982. This exceptional condition example is distinguished by having 2 very desirable dial characteristics. It is both a “Sigma” dial and a “Big Red.” The “Sigma” dial is indicated by the Greek Sigma letter on either side of the T SWISS T and denotes the dial markers and hands are gold, not plated metal. Secondly, the dial  features the very desirable “fat font” red lettering of the word Daytona above the 6 o’clock register. The big “Big Red” refers to the heavier font and more spread out printing of the Daytona. Each of these characteristics by itself is extremely desirable, but having both is all the more remarkable.

The dial is very clean with intact lumes and without any damage, chipping, water stains, fading, or deterioration often seen on these watches. Nice beefy lugs, no personalized engraving. The correct 200 MPH black lacquered tachometer bezel is in exceptional condition without dings, nicks, or “milking” commonly seen on these models. With excellent condition, non stretched Rolex SS heavy Oyster bracelet with correct 571 end pieces.

Purchased from the original owner who purchased the watch in 1982 at Tourneau in NYC, took excellent care of the watch, and retained the original box, Daytona booklet, and most importantly, the original receipt from Tourneau which shows the purchase price of $995.00. NOTE: personal information about original owner obscured in our photo, but is intact on the actual receipt.

In excellent running condition. Some minor loss of lume in original minute hand, not easily noticeable and frankly quite trivial in such a fine piece. The case and bracelet were lightly detailed just prior to our acquiring this fine specimen. The box, booklet, and of course purchase receipt are all original to the watch and are not later additions. The serial # of this watch 6.2 million dates production to 1979, though as often the case, the purchase receipt shows a later sale date of 1982. Of course guaranteed genuine and offered with a 1 year warrantee of accurate timekeeping and operation.
