A very handsome Rolex 18K yellow gold Day-Date President ref. 18078, serial #6.1 million, circa 1979, featuring the distinctive factory bark finish bezel and matching bark finish President bracelet.
The 36mm yellow gold Oyster case is fitted with sapphire crystal and the very attractive silver tapestry dial with applied yellow gold baton indexes, day aperture at 12 o’clock and date beneath the cyclops at 3. The vertical textured tapestry dial provides a great contrast to the rich yellow gold case and unusual bark finish.
Powered by the Rolex caliber 3055 self winding chronometer movement with quick-set date.
Fitted with its original 18K YG President bracelet with bark finished center links.A great looking and particularly distinctive vintage Day-Date, combining the classic President configuration with one of Rolex’s more unusual period finishes and a very pleasing silver tapestry dial. The fine lines of the dial create an interesting illusion, softening the dial and ressmbling the appearance of vertical blinds. The bracelet is in excellent condition with mild (80%) stretch with 6 screwed links to fit up to a 7 1/4″ wrist.
