A great condition example Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust ref# 1630 circa 1976. This is a one year only production model which utilizes the more angular and modernist design Oyster quartz case and integral bracelet, but is powered by a self winding movement. The more common quartz powered version of this model is the ref# 17013, while this model is the ref# 1630.
Featuring a 36mm diameter case with gold fluted bezel, sapphire crystal, and screw down case back. With original silver satin dial with applied indexes and baton hands, and with sloped inner minutes bezel.
Powered by self winding chronometer rated caliber 1570 movement with sweep seconds and non quick set date. With Rolex stainless and 14K yellow gold integral flat link Jubilee style bracelet ref 96673 with deployment clasp.. With its larger and more geometric case design, and self winding movement, the 1630 is a very popular though little known variation, and in fact the prototype for the newly introduced Land Dweller model.
