An early and fabulous condition vintage Rolex Datejust ref 1603 circa 1961 with beautiful condition original pie pan dial with tapered indexes and dagger shaped hands. Featuring an unusually fine condition 36mm diameter Oyster case with beefy lugs, little worn case back with distinct beveling at the junction of the flat back and sloped sides and with sharp and unmarred case tool “teeth” for opening.
This early Datejust features the engine turned steel bezel, acrylic crystal, and original signed SWISS silver satin dial with gently tapered applied silver indexes, original early dagger shaped hands, and intact and nicely patina’d radium lume dots. In every respect, this is an especially fine example early Datejust.
Powered by a self winding calibre 1560 butterfly movement with sweep seconds and date. The movement is clean and bright, without the discoloration and aging of movements that have been exposed to moisture or poor watchmaker service. Complete with original period rolled link bracelet with original early deployment clasp and matching date code for the first quarter of 1962. Recently serviced and and left unpolished as acquired.
