A great looking early tropical dial Rolex Datejust ref 1601 circa 1960 with case serial # 537,xxx. Featuring a 36mm diameter case with early finely milled 14K WG bezel, and original matte silver dial with marquise shaped hour indexes and tapered alpha style hands. The original matte silver dial has naturally aged over time to a mottled appearance with tan and olive tones. This is a non luminous, SWISS signed dial, with correct non luminous hands. The aging effect of the dial has nothing to do with the effect of radium on the dial over time. Nor do the hands or the markers show corrosion from exposure to water.
Powered by self winding caliber 1560 movement with sweep seconds and non quick set date. Recently fully serviced and fitted with an olive green fine stitched leather strap for a great vintage look.
