Rolex Bombe ref 5018 Stainless Steel circa 1948

Scarce and desirable model Rolex stainless steel “Bombe ref 5018 serial # 642,xxx circa 1950. Featuring 35mm diameter Oyster case with extended bowed lugs, smooth bezel, acrylic crystal, and very pleasing restored antique salmon dial with recessed embossed tapered silver indexes and elongated tapered silver dauphine hands. Powered by early calibre 645 self winding “bubble back” type movement with sweep seconds. With more recent style Rolex crown. Recently restored by our most meticulous veteran Rolex repairman, and offered with our usual 1 year warrantee of accurate timekeeping and operation. Offered on your choice of fine or distressed leather or exotic skin strap.

The bombe case model is arguably the best looking Oyster case design of the 1950’s and 1960’s period. The bowed, shouldered lugs add dimension and styling to the otherwise straight forward, straight lug cases. We see a fair number of the bombe case models in gold, from the late 40’s, into the early 60’s, but the steel models are much less common, and are usually late 40’s to mid 50’s era.
