A richly tropical dial Rolex GMT ref 16753 with tropical gloss “rootbeer” dial circa 1979. Featuring a naturally weathered original gloss surface dial with nipple indexes, aged luminous plots, and with extensive mottling of the finish throughout the dial. The patchwork nature of the dial toning ressembles in some respect the diffusion of colors seen in water color paintings.
The hands are similarly imperfect and a match to the distressing of the dial. The bi-color 24 hour bezel likewise evidence extensive and even fading of both the gold and the bronze segments. No doubt the insert is original to the watch and is a great complement to the dial.
Completed with a SS/14K YG D link Jubilee bracelet with folding deployant clasp. The date code of the bracelet is 2/71, which is a bit earlier than the year of the watch.
The watch is powered by caliber 3075 self winding movement with quick set date. It has been recently fully serviced and left unpolished as acquired. Now in excellent mechanical and operating condition and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.
NOTES: It would be our opinion that moisture or condensation penetrated this watch and created the unique distressed character of this time piece. While certainly not a watch for every wrist, we found this piece to be a compelling addition to our selection of vintage time pieces. It is most definitely a unique piece with lots of character that we expect will appeal to fans of a weathered aesthetic.
Your purchase includes our signature fine leather watch pouch, ideal for travel and storage, a $65 retail value.
