Rolex 18K YG Oyster Quartz Day Date ref 19018 circa 1989 Box & Papers

A very mint condition example Rolex 18K YG Day Date Oyster Quartz ref 19018 serial # 9.7 million circa 1989. Featuring a modernist design 36mm diameter large angular design case with fluted bezel. Original gold champagne dial with applied gold indexes and gilt baton hands. Dial signed Rolex OysterQuartz Day-Date. Powered by Rolex calibre 5035 quartz movement with day and date. With integral 18K YG flat link oyster quartz bracelet with deployment clasp.

The bracelet is in very sharp condition, with very little loosening. The bracelet is good length and will comfortably fit a 7 1/4″ inch wrist, fine for a woman or for a man’s medium size wrist. The darkness on the strap is oxidation which we can remove without any polishing. The watch includes the original Rolex warranty Japan and a Rolex Presidential box photo’d.

The Oyster Quartz movement was introduced by Rolex during the “quartz revolution” of the late 1970’s to compete with the burgeoning Japanese market in quartz movements. Rolex produced their own high quality movement, and outfitted the watch in a much more futuristic and modern motif design larger more geometric formed Oyster case.

The Oyster Quartz was produced in the Datejust version in steel and steel and gold combo, and in white gold or yellow gold in the Day Date version. With it’s larger and more geometric design, it is a popular variation and popular alternative to the traditional Presidential model. A truly exceptional example of this modernist design model. Appears to have been very little worn in it’s lifetime. A very mint, unpolished case, and tight bracelet. Left unpolished with oxidation present that can be removed without polishing the case or bracelet.
