Vintage Illinois Bunn Special 60 hour railroad grade pocket watch circa 1927. Featuring a 16 size Bunn Special signed  10K yellow gold filled case railroad watch in fine condition. Featuring a beautiful  “double sunk” white enamel “Montogomery” dial with large and bold black enamel arabic numbers, detailed red 5 minute and black 1 minute indexes and blued steel spade hands. The dial is free of cracks or hairlines, while the case back shows some even wear around the perimeter from being carried and used, but not abused for a number of years by a railroad employee of the era.

The watch is powered by as 23 jewel movement with lovely damasceen decoration of the plates and signed Bunn Special 23 jewels  movement. With knurled edge bezel, heavy bow, and case back free of personalized engraving.

60 hour refers to the large mainspring barrel that allows the watch to run for 60 hours when fully wound. Like all railroad watches, this watch is stem wind, but lever set, which means that the bezel must be unscrewed, the lever pulled out to set the time, and the bezel screwed back on. This was an important safety feature to ensure that time was not inadvertently change risking a collision between trains running on the same tracks. The 60 hour Bunn Special is a classic among vintage American railroad watches, and the current example is a fine example.
