Elgin AOPA 24 Hour Stainless Steel circa 1951 Pre Navitimer

Predating the AOPA logo Breitling Navitimer watches, was the current ultra rare Elgin model with 24 hour dial and with gilded AOPA logo. This watch was only produced for roughly 3 years before the AOPA switched to Breitling, making this far more rare than any other dial marked with the famed wings. A fascinating find, and beautiful artifact from the beginning of one of the most important aeronautic organizations in the world.

Featuring a medium size 33mm diameter stainless steel case with extended bow lugs, screw down case back. Powered by 17 jewel manual wind Elgin movement with sweep seconds. With beautifully patina’d radium indexes and hands, and red arrow tipped sweep seconds hand. Case back marked “Durapower Mainspring,” “Resistant to Shock, Dust, Water, Magnetism.” Recently fully serviced by one of our veteran watchmakers and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate timekeeping and operation.
