Cartier Santos Lady’s ref# 0906 Automatic Retro Burgundy Dial circa 1980s

A fine condition example of an early and scarce lady’s all stainless steel octagonal case Cartier Santos with burgundy dial circa late 1970s or early 1980s. Featuring a 25mm diameter case  with steel bezel secured by exposed screws, low profile mineral glass crystal, and with a beautiful condition original burgundy dial with silver hands and gold printed Cartier signature. This scarce model is further distinguished by its red spinel cabachon crown, found only on original burgundy dial models

This early model Santos is powered by a self winding movement with sweep seconds. It is complemented by its excellent condition Santos flat link bracelet with double C logo folding deployant clasp.

The octagonal version Santos is a less common version compared to the more familiar square shape, and by the shape and the scarce burgundy dial announces its retro era origins. An attractive and distinctive alternative to the more familiar white with Roman figures dial version. The solid color dials of this era are the inspiration for the solid color black, blue, burgundy and green dials of the current generation of Must de Tank models.
