An exceptional condition example Rolex GMT Master I ref# 16700, late production example with SWISS only dial designation complete with original Rolex papers. Featuring a 40mm diameter stainless steel case with bi-directional 24 hour all black bezel insert, glossy black original SWISS dial with Luminova indexes and hands, and with sapphire crystal. Powered by caliber 3175 self winding movement with sweep seconds and date and 24 hour arrow hand. With original Rolex stainless steel ref# 78790 Oyster bracelet with 501B end links and X8 date code.

This is an exceptional condition example of a 2 year only production from 1998 and 1999. Pre 1998 models used Tritium as designated by SWISS T<25, while post 2000 models are signed SWISS MADE at the bottom of the dial indicating the use of Superluminova. The case is extremely beefy and robust, and does show original lustre under some surface scratches. We cannot say definitely that it has not been polished before.

The 16700 reference is a small production model, first introduced in 1988, and essentially the 16750 quickset acrylic crystal model, rebadged as the 16700 with the addition of the sapphire crystal and a change from the 3075 to the 3175 movement. Though in production from 1988 until 1999, this model was less favored than the GMT Master II ref 16710 that was introduced at the same time, because of its independently set hour hand. The 16700 had a much smaller production than the 16710 and consequently is a much harder watch to find. This choice example, a 2 year only production, with Rolex warranty papers, we consider to be a great find.
