Scarce and very pleasing example, vintage Omega pre-Constellation “Globemaster” circa 1952 complete with Omega strap and buckle, Omega box, and Omega warrantee papers! This early 13 million serial # example predates the “Constellation” designation, but bares all the other characteristics of the Constellation named models. See discussion below.
Featuring a stunning original two tone gold waffle dial with a mix of wide flared faceted indexes and numerals and tapered gilt hands. The dial further features the applied gold Omega logo as well as an applied solid gold star near the 6 o’clock position. With chronometer rated caliber 354 bumper automatic movement and original 10 sided gold capped Omega crown.
The gold shell 35mm case features long faceted lugs and heavy snap back stainless steel case with deeply embossed gold Observatory logo. Accompanied by a brown leather Omega signed strap, with Omega signed buckle. Further adding to the uniqueness and desirability of this example is its original crocodile grain box and extensive original Omega warrantee papers.
The watch has recently been serviced by one of our veteran watchmakers, and is offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.
The story of the Globemaster: Due to a trademark dispute with Pan American Airlines, whose iconic triple tail plane was also named the “Constelllation,” Omega was not able to use this term until 1958 when the trademark dispute was resolved. This model has all the characteristics of the Constellation, minus the Constellation designation.
