Gruen “Airflight” Precision 24 Hour American Airlines Logo circa 1960

A scarce and great condition Gruen “Airflight Precision” 24 hour jumping hours model circa 1960. This model features an oversize for the era 35mm diameter case with bold extended lugs and with acrylic crystal. With a distinctive dial and mechanism which displays the hours through portholes on the dial. The dial displays standard AM hours 1-12 and then jumps sharply to PM 13-24 military hours using a 17 jewel manual wind movement.

Featuring an original lovely condition matte silver satin dial with large stylized gilt hands. The dial has a quite special feature which is the distinctive AA logo for American Airlines. Models with such logos were commissioned specifically for Airline pilots, crew, and employees

The current example is the best configuration available of this model with an all stainless steel case and screw down case back. Lesser versions feature either a gold plated or rhodium plated base metal bezel in lieu of the all steel case of this example.
