The Oyster Quartz movement was introduced by Rolex during the “quartz revolution” of the late 1970’s to compete with the burgeoning Japanese market in quartz movements. Rolex produced their own high quality movement, and outfitted the watch in a much more futuristic and modern motif design, larger and more geometric formed Oyster case. Star dials on Rolex models are quite rare. The most famous are the ref 6062 moonphase model, commonly known as the Stelline model, and the references 6088 and 6098 “Galaxy” models which are 36mm Oyster Perpetual models with star indexes.
