A stunning example Rolex 18K yellow gold Day Date President with tropical “caramel” color “door stop” dial circa 1970. In short, one of the prettiest dials we have ever seen on a Day Date of this era!  Featuring a 36mm diameter full size man’s model with acrylic crystal, 18K YG fluted bezel, and stunning original tropical pie pan dial with so called “door stop” markers.  The dial color is a gorgeous caramel tone that radiates a warm glow like that of an rich oriental rug as you view it from different angles.

The dial also features a very subtle “underline” mark faintly printed just under the OCC printing which is typically associated with early 60’s dials to designate the use of tritium instead of radium on dials that are signed SWISS only, as is this dial. The lume plots on the dial are all intact, and have darkened evenly, and perfectly match original the lume hands. The date and English language date wheel each show an aged champagne color consistent with the aging of the dial, lume, and hands.

The case is in excellent condition and shows expected, but not excessive wear or over polishing. The case back and case back grooves are clean and not chewed up and hallmark stamps are all deep and sharp.

Powered by self winding calibre 1555 movement with non quick set date. The watch was recently fully serviced by one of our veteran watchmakers and is in excellent operating condition.
