Early and extremely desirable Tudor blue dial “Snowflake” Submariner with date, ref# 7201 /0 serial number 761,xxx circa 1970. Extremely nice condition example with beautiful original dark blue dial with fully intact original square luminous indexes and original “snowflake” hands. WIth exceptionally nice condition all original dial, with very little surface irregularities that are common and pronounced on most examples of the early Tudor Snowflakes. With all original unrestored tritium lume with slightly darker perimeter of each index like the crust on a piece of toast! The tiritium lume on the hands is lighter, but we believe all original, and the hands are free of corrosion commonly seen on these models.
This fabulous Tudor Sub is further enjhanced by a fabulous ghost bezel, evenly faded to a light grayish blue color. The insert is free of scratches, dents or chips so often seen in these early inserts. The watch is fitted with a new correct, high dome acrylic crystal, and the watch passes pressure testing for water resistance.
The watch features heavy and beefy lugs, appears to have been polished some time in it’s history, and is free of corrosion. WIth case back date code of IV/70, and free of any case back engraving. The watch retains it’s original twin lock crown in surprisingly good condition, without dents, cap wear or lifting.
Recently fully serviced and pressure tested by one of our veteran Rolex trained watchmakers. Offered on sport leather vintage style Italian strap, and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate timekeeping and operation.
While all snowflake Tudor subs are in great demand these days, we think this current example, recently acquired from a collection, is an especially great early example.
