Rolex SS/18K YG Daytona ref 16523 serial# U4 circa 1998 with popular black dial. This is a late production example of the first generation automatic “Zenith” Daytona model, now a highly collectible model which used the Zenith self winding movement, before the introduction of the Rolex movement in model ref 116520. Featuring a 40mm diameter case with steel tachometer bezel and sapphire crystal. With original gloss black dial with tritium luminous bar indexes and luminous baton hands. With Rolex SS/18K YG heavy Oyster 78393 bracelet with 403 end links flip lock clasp and U2 date code.

In very good preowned condition, previously polished, (now showing little surface scratches which can be polished on request) with very good condition bracelet with little stretch and clean sharp bezel without dings. Complete with original wooden Daytona box, Rolex warrantee papers dated 1998, Rolex Cosmograph booklet, chronometer hang tag, plastic bezel protector, and the original box with 16523 sticker.

The Zenith automatic movement model Daytona was introduced in 1988 and continued production until 2000. The current example is an early S serial # example with desirable Mark III dial variation with 5 lines of print, inverted 6, and 400/240 designated steel tachometer bezel.
