A great looking vintage Rolex 18K YG Submariner ref 18068 circa 1981 with an original naturally faded tropical dial. Featuring a naturally weathered and aged tritium lume nipple index dial that was originally cobalt blue which has faded from a glossy cobalt blue color to a faded and aged color and tone that we are going to describe as “stone wash” denim with matte gold undertones.

It is well known that the blue paint on vintage Rolex dials is not very stable, and we see many lightly faded blue dials. This dial shows a rich aged look, with the expected patina’d luminous nipple style indexes, original aged tritium lume hands, and matching aged pearl in the aged elapsed time bezel. The watch retains it’s original tritium lume hands and matching faded pearl insert.

The details: Featuring a 40mm diameter 18K YG case with sapphire crystal, original nipple dial and unidirectional elapsed time bezel with faded blue insert. With original especially tight for it’s age Rolex 18K YG Oyster bracelet with flip lock clasp. With especially beefy lug case and tight with pronounced and distinct Rolex logo on clasp that has not been worn or polished away. Bracelet contains 11 links plus diver’s extension and will comfortably fit a 7 1/4″ wrist. As you may know this era bracelet uses pins for sizing the bracelet and not screws.
