Transitional model Rolex Submariner ref# 168000 R serial number, circa 1987 with a remarkable brown tropical dial and matching hands. Featuring a sapphire crystal, quick set caliber 3035 movement, unidirectional elapsed time bezel. The dial on this transitional model has turned a distinctive brown color, the surface is a matte, weathered surface distinctly brown in color with patina’d luminous indexes and matching color hands. The bezel pearl has also turned a rich coffee color. Offered on it’s heavy Oyster 93150/501B end piece bracelet with flip lock, it would also look fabulous and accentuate the brown dial color if worn on a vintage style strap.

The 168000 model is a 1 year only production model in 1986 and 1987 introducing the higher grade 904 stainless steel alloy, replacing the prior 316 grade alloy. The case is the same as the soon to be introduced 16610, but with the 168000 designation, and still utilizing the 3035 movement of the 16800.
