Vintage Rolex Submariner ref 16800 transitional model, 8.3 million serial # circa 1984 with great vintage character and recent provenance. Great looking vintage model with very pleasing original patina’d tritium luminous indexes and hands, great looking faded and worn original “ghost” bezel, with nicely matching elapsed time bezel “pearl.” Powered by caliber 3135 self winding movement with quick set date. With Rolex heavy Oyster bracelet with flip lock clasp. Recently serviced and left unpolished and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.
This is the popular transitional model, a sapphire crystal ref 16800, which follows the plastic crystal model 1680, and precedes the 16610 with modern glossy style dial. This model features a sapphire crystal, a quick set date ref 3035 movement, and a very pleasing glossy black dial with tritium hour markers, matching tritium hands, and patina’d elapsed time bezel pearl. This transitional model offers the convenience and security of a more water resistant design, but retaining the popular vintage character of the early plastic crystal matte dial models.
