This is the popular transitional model, an early sapphire crystal ref 16800, which follows the plastic crystal model 1680, and precedes the 16610 with modern style dial. This model features a sapphire crystal, a quick set date ref 3035 movement, and a very pleasing matte black dial with warmly patina’d luminous dial indexes and hands.

This transitional model offers the convenience and security of a more water resistant design, but retaining the popular vintage character of the early plastic crystal matte dial models. Along with being an exception example in condition, from the patina to its razor sharp case, this piece comes with all accompanying paperwork supplied by Rolex at the time of purchase, 30 years ago.
