A unique and fabulous looking Rolex stainless steel Oyster Perpetual Date ref 15000 with tropical “chapter ring” dial. Featuring a 34mm diameter case with smooth bezel and acrylic crystal and original silver satin dial with applied gold indexes and gold baton hands. The dial on this watch has naturally aged to create a wide contrasting band of reddish/tan coloration surrounding the dial indexes, creating an uncharacteristic and fabulous vintage look. On so called “color change” or tropical dials, the effect is either uniform and random on the dial, or cauased by radium burn frmo the hands. On tritium lume dials, such as this exmaple, it is unusual in our experience to see such a specific pattern, The dial appears to be designed, rather than occurring naturally. We don’t have an explanation for this particular pattern, but as you can see, we are enthusiastic fans and advocates of such unique dials.
