Vintage circa 1979 transitional model Rolex GMT ref 16750 with extremely nice original matte black dial with light cream color original tritium luminous indexes, acrylic crystal, and evenly faded red and blue “Pepsi” bezel. With previously polished, but beefy lug case free of corrosion and with clear reference and serial #s. The hands have been color matched a close color to the original dial lumes.

The 16750 model features a 3075 quick set date movement instead of the earlier non quick set date 1500 series movement but predates the introduction of the sapphire crystal so called “GMT 1” model. This example features a heavy Oyster 78360 bracelet with letter B date code for 1981, and with 580 end pieces and deployant clasp.

The earliest of these “transitional” models continued the use of the vintage style matte black dial, while later models were fitted with the more modern gloss dial with metal luminous surrounds. A very nice condition example with a very nice early era matte dial.
