A great looking and very late production vintage Rolex 1675 GMT with original box and papers sold new in 1980. Featuring a beautiful original matte black Mark V dial with richly patina’d wheat color luminous tritium indexes and matching untouched tritium hour, minute, and 24 hour hands. With acrylic cyclops crystal, and nicely faded red and blue “Pepsi” bezel. With a beefy lug previously polished case, and a D link Jubilee bracelet with date code for 1979. Just the right vintage look to the dial, lume, and faded Pepsi bezel that we all love.
This example is further distinguished by the original punched Rolex warranty papers with dealer stamp sold new in Caracas, Venezuela. With original 1675 caseback sticker attached to the papers and with box and with retailer’s tag.
E=MC2 Another unique feature we haven’t seen before is the enigmatic case back engraving of E=MC2. This is Einstein’s famous formula which addresses the relationship between mass and energy. This is quite an atypical engraving to find on a watch case back. Whether the owner or recipient of the gift was a physicist, an engineer, or professor, we do not know. Nor do we know if this formula was a metaphor for something else quite meaningful in his life. What we do know, it was put there quite on purpose, and it surely adds some intrigue and charm to this lovely vintage piece.
This is the last year of production of the ref #1675 as the 16750 with quick set movement was introduced later in this same year. The 1675 model features a non quick set caliber 1575 caliber movement with 24 hour GMT hand. The watch has been recently fully serviced, is guaranteed genuine and as described, and is offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.
