Rolex Explorer 1 ref 14270 Tritium “Starry Sky” Dial circa 1993

Offering an especially interesting example vintage Rolex stainless steel Explorer 1 ref 14270 circa 1993. A fine condition example with original tritium luminous indexes and hands which uncharacteristically show a bit of ivory color aging. The dial surface is also remarkable in that it has developed a subtle “frozen” surface, occasionally seen on some of the early gloss dial Rolex sport models. The surface irregularities resemble an early morning frost on the windshield, or alternatively, faint stars in the galaxy seen in the evening just as the sky begins to darken. A subtle, but appealing effect, not easily seen on casual observation, but readily apparent under close inspection.

This is the 36mm full size man’s model with smooth bezel and sapphire crystal and glossy black original tritium 3/6/9 Explorer dial and hands. Powered by calibre 3000 self winding movement with sweep seconds. With Rolex stainless steel heavy Oyster 78360 bracelet with 558B end pieces and first generation deployment clasp without flip lock and T5 date code.

In excellent preowned condition, recently serviced, with beefy lug case that has been previously polished. The bracelet is tight, and case and bracelet are free of nicks, dings, or scratches.  Guaranteed genuine and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.

Also accompanying your purchase is one of our beautiful handmade Italian leather watch travel pouches, a $55 value as well as a period Explorer 1 booklet.
