A fabulous looking example vintage Rolex Explorer 1 ref 1016 serial # 4.0 million circa 1975. Featuring a 36mm diameter case with smooth bezel, acrylic crystal, and original matte black T <25 dial with richly patina’d triitum lume indexes and original lume matching hands. Powered by calibre 1570 self winding chronometer rated movement with hack feature. Complete with heavy Oyster 78360 bracelet with 580 end pieces and VC date code.
This is one of the most attractive examples matte dial Explorer 1’s that we have had in years. The dial, lume, and hands are all without flaw, even the hands are free of any corrosion or loss of luminous. The warm straw color of the lume is extremely pleasing to the eye and the envy of all vintage watch enthusiasts. As expected the bezel, case, and bracelet all show light surface scratches throughout, which we have left unpolished as found. There are no substantial nicks, dings, or case back engraving or thread damage, and no corrosion between the lugs. In every respect a great example 1016.
