NOTE: the Explorer 1 reference 1016 model has been a popular classic vintage sport model for years, but in the last few years have seen an enormous increase in demand and value. The current example is a very pleasing example with the perfect vintage look. The matte dial surface is flawless without oil spots, hand drag, water spots or any other damage. The lume plots are fully intact and all original and unmolested. The hands read a bit white in the photos, but in person, are the same color as the dial plots and we believe are the original tritium lume hands and not replacements. In all respects an extremely pleasing example vintage Explorer 1 model.

Provenance and History

This watch was acquired from the original owner, an adventurous individual who wore this watch for years kayaking the Amazon river in Brazil. When purchased it was still on a worn and frankly a bit nasty condition rubber strap! Some corrosion has developed between the lugs from years of use and exposure to moisture, but all numbers of the reference # and serial numbers are readable. The inside case back and main body show little evidence of corrosion and do not compromise the integrity of the case. See detailed photos.
