An early Rolex 18K yellow gold Day Date ref 1803, serial #640,xxx circa 1960. Featuring a 36mm yellow gold case with fine milled bezel and acrylic non cyclops crystal. With original champagne pie pan dial signed SWISS with distinctive applied, faceted, and pointed indexes and alpha hands with the original tritium lume hands. As can be seen in the photos, the dial shows some aging. In person the spotting of the dial is visibile, but not as pronounced as appears in our high resolution photos.

Early Day Date models such as this example feature several subtle but important characteristics that distinguish these models from the more familiar and frankly more plentiful later production models. The distinctive shaped and faceted app[lied dial markers, the tapered alpha style gold hands, and the finely milled bezel, and the very small font print found on these early models are important distinguishing characteristics  and account for a special vintage character to these models. We are big fans of these models when they include all the mentioned above characteristics and have not been replaced by more contemporary parts.
