A fine example Rolex 18K gold Datejust ref# 16018 circa 1988 with a remarkable charcoal black dial that ressembles the appearance of the mineral hematite. This is a handsome full size man’s 36mm diameter gold Datejust model with fluted bezel, sapphire crystal with a distinctive original dial. The dial color is black, but with a softer, metallic coal, or hematite mineral appearance. The dial retains its original nicely patina’d lume plots and closely matching tritium lume hands.
Featuring a sharp condition case with substantial and beefy lugs. Powered by self winding caliber 3035 movement with quick set date and sweep seconds. Fitted with a chocolate brown crocodile strap which nicely complements the gold case and the dial.
This is a great looking solid gold full size man’s model of the era which offers a very sporty and upscale look for a man or oversized for a woman. The watch is in excellent condition in all respects, with thick lugs, free of dents, nicks, or scratches, and as stated, with a unique dial. Recently fully serviced and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.
NOTE: the 16018 gold Datejust is a bit of an anomaly among Datejusts of the era, as it is only the all gold model that came fitted with a sapphire crystal, The stainless steel 16000 and the 2 tone 16013 models of this era were fitted with the same quick set movement, but came with acrylic crystals, rather than the sapphire crystal supplied with the 16018.
