A stunning and impressive Piaget 18K YG rectangular dress model ref 14101, circa 1970. Featuring an oversized and thick 35 x 41mm triple-stepped case with rounded corners. It is an amazing, chunky 10mm thick bold and elegant look. With an absolutely stunning rich blue genuine lapis lazuli dial. The color of the lapis is quite magnificent and all the more dramatic by its minimalist design without hour markets, just the PIAGET name printed in gold and offset by wide gold matchstick style hands.
Powered by the innovative Beta 21 quartz movement, one of the first quartz movements put into production by a consortium of Swiss watch companies. Accompanied by the original Piaget vintage strap and 18K Piaget buckle.
This quartz movement was developed by a consortium of 20 Swiss watch brands, including Piaget, Omega, and Patek Philippe and first released in 1969. At the time, the technology dictated large movements which required the production of oversized cases to accommodate the movements. In this case, the large size of the movement is a blessing as it resulted in this large, showy, sophisticated and impressive time piece.
We will soon post photos of this massive and stunning time piece on the wrist, or will provide on request. This style of watch certainly represents a departure from our typical offerings, but we hope that our enthusiasm about this elegant and impressive piece comes across in our narrative!
