An especially large and impressive Omega man’s pocket watch with oversize sweep seconds function circa 1940s. Featuring an oversize 56mm diameter open face stainless steel Omega signed case reference # 1107-3 with a stunning original 2 tone silver satin dial with wrapping mirror finish arabic figures, silver spade hands, and an extra long sweep center seconds hand to reach the fine seconds track at the very perimeter of the dial. Powered by 17 jewel manual wind Omega caliber 30T2SC movement. Movement serial number of 10.9 million dates this watch to a production year of 1946.
This is a quite unusual configuration pocket watch in our experience. It is unusual in its size and thinness and in the layout of the dial. It would seem that this watch was designed for technical (or military?) purposes to allow the user to more easily view the seconds on the highly detailed outer seconds track.
UPDATE: We have found a listing of a previous sale of such a watch which is described as extremely rare, likely intended as a deck watch for precise time operation of 1/5″ second, and likely produced for the Italian Navy.
