Very elegant vintage man’s 14K YG Lord Elgin self winding dress model with quick set date circa 1971. The story of this watch is told by the applied logo to the dial, and the inscription on the case back. This watch was a presentation piece to Master Craftsman August E. Willers, by the Fisher Body Division of General Motors upon his retirement after 55 years with the company! The engraving honors an employment history starting March 16, 1916 and ending in 1971.

He began his employment presumably as an apprentice, perhaps at age 18, before the outbreak of WW1, and continued throughout his lifetime, through WWII, the Korean war, and into the Vietnam War. 55 years working with the same company, and ultimately rising to the status of master craftsman, hence this gold presentation watch!

As for the watch itself, we have a 14K YG 34mm diameter heavy snap back case with extended 40mm lugs, and finely sloped bezel. Featuring an original silver dial with applied gold indexes and prominent applied Fisher Body Coach logo.  Powered by a self winding Lord Elgin movement with gold baton hands and sweep seconds. The movement has a quick set date feature which advances the date by pulling out, and pushing back in the signed original crown.
