An unsual and fine looking vintage 14K YG LeCoultre manual wind Memovox alarm circa 1960’s. In our ongoing quest for great design and great condition vintage pieces, this is another standout. In the 1970’s Lecoultre departed from the traditional simple round case design and began experimenting with more modernist design cases and color schemes. Reference the TV screen dial models, thick cushion and oval shape cases and more colorful pallets mixing grays, oranges, and blues.
The current model features a traditional round dial which is set off within an atypical and large 34.5 x 34.5mm cushion shaped case. What we find remarkable about this model is the finely executed quilted texture pattern to the case. We have not seen this variation before and find it to be quite striking.
This manual wind alarm model features a lovely original silver satin inner disk and outer dial with applied gold indexes and gilt hands. The inner rotating center disk with gold applied arrow is for alarm setting, while the outer dial features elongated applied hour indexes. Powered by manual wind K911 movement with date. With unsigned matching crowns, the upper for alarm setting, and the lower for winding and setting the watch. The case back is free of any personalized engraving. The watch is in fine condition, presumably having been little worn and well taken care of.
