A rarely encountered and fabulous looking vintage Jaeger Lecoultre “Doctor Pulso” 3 registers chronograph circa 1970. Featuring a massive 43mm diameter round case with fabulous multicolor dial with an unusual and striking palette. The oversize case features a blue background with contrasting white registers with subtle cinnamon color hands and accents. The modernist design of the dial further features bold geometric applied silver indexes with toned tritium lume and match stick style hour and minute hands, stylized syringe shaped register hands, and an easily viewed sweep seconds hand.
As for function, the watch appears to have been designed expressly for use as a pulsimenter for medical practice. The scale for pulsations is highlighted for ease of use against a white segment of the first 1/4 of the dial. But the dial also includes a tachometer scale, which is 2ndary to the pulsations scale, set along the last 3/4 of the perimeter of the dial against a blue background. The sweep hand by its length, color, and shape make it easy to locate and use for its intended purpose.
This striking and functional doctor’s model is powered by a Valjoux 72 manual wind chronograph with round pushers and signed JLC crown. It has been fitted with an NSA bracelet that is attached to the underside of the case. The clasp of the bracelet is signed by its maker, NSA. The bracelet will fit up to a 7 1/2″ wrist.
The watch is in magnificent condition cosmetically with no paint loss, scratches or other issues to the dial and hands. The watch has been recently fully serviced and is keeping excellent time with all chronograph functions operating properly and with each register returning to zero.
This is the first example of this model we have ever encountered. In our research we have seen reported that approximately only 200 of this model were produced. Truly a magnificent watch for a styling physician or for one who plays one on TV!
