A truly rare and fabulous condition IWC Ingenieur ref 866A circa 1970 with stunning original blue dial and signed Gays Freres beads of rice bracelet. This is the large 37.5mm diameter robust design case with screw down caseback, wide bezel, heavy extended lugs with self winding IWC caliber 8541B self winding movement with sweep seconds and date. With original IWC fish logo crown for hand winding and setting.
For those not familiar, the Ingenieur was designed similar to the Rolex Milgauss particularly for engineers, to protect the movement against strong magnetic fields which play havoc with the hairspring and accurate time keeping of watches. The Ingenieur cases were also larger and more robust in design than the regular production models IWCs.
The current example is a stellar example of this scarce model. The watch appears to be little worn, and in our opinion never polished.
With a stunning blue dial in superb condition and not suffering the fading or unevenness more often seen on this model. With large and readable applied silver indexes with tritium lume plots and with matching design large and readable hands. With applied IWC logo raised from the surface of the dial adding to the industrial design of this rugged and handsome watch.
With original Gay Frères made, IWC signed clasp beads of rice bracelet in fine, little worn condition. The bracelet is tight, not loose and the deployant clasp is tight and clean and without scratches, abrasions or dings. This is the first we have ever offered of this model, and it is a beauty. In excellent operating condition, of course guaranteed genuine, and offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation.
