A scarce and great looking vintage Gruen doctor’s watch circa 1930’s. Featuring a rectangular 21 X 40mm white gold filled case with decorative engraved sides and partially recessed crown. With a beautifully restored 2 tone silver satin dial with black Roman figures printed in a circle above, blued steel wide spade hands, and a separate smaller bit below for the subsidiary seconds. Powered by calibre 877/8 15 jewel Gruen Guild manual wind duo plan movement.

This is an excellent condition case free of any personalized engraving and shows little case wear, often referred to as “brassing.”  With high quality very clean movement recently serviced and in fine operating condition. A very desirable vintage model, and one we rarely encounter.

Note: the Gruen 877 movement is the same movement as found in Rolex Prince models, made by Aegler company and marketed in the U.S. under the Gruen name, and in Europe and British colonies under the Rolex name. Doctor’s watches were designed for doctors, engineers, and for other professionals who needed to have a clear and unobstructed view of the 2nd hand. Doctor’s models have always been highly regarded and sought after models.
